The engineers in Panama know this better than anyone. They walk the catwalks of the locks with the weight of global supply chains pressing down on their shoulders. They monitor the rainfall data with the intensity of ER doctors reading an unstable pulse. They dredge, they conserve, they experiment with water-saving basins. But technology can only do so much against a vanishing sky.
